dynamic stability

Dynamic stability (per What is Intelligence - What is Life)

Systems that cycle through a loop of states (in dynamical systems theory, a stable limit cycle), thus preserving their identity through time even though they are in constant flux; typical of living systems.

A replicator is more stable than a non-replicator; not physically robust (DNA is fragile; a sculpture degrades), but because its pattern persists through copying.
