Creativity is finding novel ways to compress data.
Sometimes, creativity is transformational, refactoring the prerequisites/restructuring the representation (to be modular), or pruning it (to be weaker).
This doesn’t need to be strictly better compression in the short-run, but enables vastly better compression and new possibilities in the long-run.
But, creativity is never utterly radical – most new ideas are compositions of existing ones.
